Hameldon Hill Wind Farm is, to be fair, one of the better wind farms. RWE certainly claim to donate approximately £10,000 per annum to local causes, though as yet I've not been able to find out exactly where this money has gone. The wind farm is located on the northern slopes of Great Hameldon, overlooking Burnley from its hillside perch. If it actually worked and was proven safe, this wind farm could possibly prove to be beneficial to the local community. Sadly, RWE sets "a strong focus to expand the already strong core businesses - onshore and offshore wind power..." In other words, they want more and more wind farms, to make more and more money. Yet again, it's about profit first, conserving the natural world second.
